Where will my massage or bodywork session take place?
In a private, low lit treatment room. Soft music is playing as you transcend into a state of relaxation on a warm and luxurious linened bed.

Must I be completely undressed?
Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client completely unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session. If you are getting a chair massage, loose fitting shirts are advised.

Will the practitioner be present when I disrobe?
The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a fresh sheet or towel.

Will I be covered during the session?
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.

What parts of my body will be massaged?
A typical full-body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, gluteus, feet, hands, head, face, neck, and shoulders.

What will the massage or bodywork feel like?
A relaxing Swedish massage is often a baseline for clients. In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. Often, a light oil or lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. The oil also helps hydrate your skin. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting.

Are there different kinds of massage and bodywork?
There are numerous types of massage and bodywork; various techniques utilize different strokes, including basic rubbing strokes, rocking movement, posture and movement re-education, application of pressure to specific points, and more. We can discuss which methods may be most appropriate for you.

What should I do during the massage or bodywork session?
Prior to the massage, feel free to ask the practitioner any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the massage, make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if/when they need more or less pressure, another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.

How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Making sure that you drink plenty of water after a massage will help ensure your body flushes out any toxins.

What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?
Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
Yes. That's why it's imperative that, before you begin your session, the practitioner asks general health questions. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.

What exactly is a classic full set of semi-permanent eyelash extensions?

They are single strands of synthetic lashes that are attached one-by-one to your own natural lashes for a natural, elegant look to lengthen and add fullness to the existing lashes. Each synthetic strand is tapered at the tip with a thick base and curled to replicate a natural lash. The lash stylist meticulously and delicately attach one lash extension, to one natural lash, one at a time for an average of 70 to 100 lash extensions per eye.

What brand of lash extensions do you most commonly use?

Our lash artist uses Xtreme Lash® brand of lash extensions.

What are the Xtreme Lash® brand eyelash extensions made out of?

These faux mink lashes are crafted from synthetic polyester. Synthetic lashes respond better to wear and tear than other materials. In addition, synthetics have the least possible chance of allergic reactions with human skin.Upon request real Siberian mink lashes can be used.

What do the lash extensions look like and how do they feel?

With proper application, they look and feel completely real. Each application is customized to suit the individual. There are various lengths, diameters of thickness and levels of curl that are chosen to replicate the shape and frame of a natural lash line. The thickness of the eyelash extensions is determined by the health and thickness of your natural lashes as well as personal preference. The overall effect is added curl, thickness and length, opening up the eye for added definition. They are designed to be indistinguishable in size and weight to human lashes.Being an exact replica of an eyelash, it weighs about as much as a natural lash: practically nothing. They are flexible and they move with your natural lashes. As long as you keep up with the touch-up applications, it is almost impossible to tell that you are wearing the extensions.

You will not notice the addition of the extensions to your lashes and they will not cause your natural lashes to fall out ahead of their natural cycle as other enhancement methods can.

What are the benefits of wearing lash extensions?

Most clients choose to lengthen their natural lashes while others want their lashes to look fuller.Clients with naturally light colored lashes choose to darken their existing lashes. We recommend clients with very light blonde or red natural lashes tint their eyelashes black or dark brown beforehand to blend the extension into the lash line better.Still others love the different, fun looks they can achieve with highlighting, layering and the use of colored lashes to enhance eye color. They create a younger appearance on many clients, by creating the appearance of a brighter, more open and rested eye, resulting in a more youthful and rejuvenated look.Above all, the main advantage is how much time you can save during your beauty regimen, allowing you to spend less time with makeup; mascara is certainly no longer necessary. Because our lashes are bigger at the base, they create the same effect as eyeliner so that step can be avoided as well. Overall, they will give you the appearance of having put significant effort into your eye makeup when, in reality, you spent no time at all. No application of eye makeup and no need for removal at the end of the day. They look beautiful morning and night, all day, every day. Say goodbye to the application of mascara, stained tears and mascara raccoon masks around the eyes. You can look and feel gorgeous from the moment you wake up until the moment you fall asleep with little to no effort. They are perfect for hot, humid vacations at the beach, weddings where you don’t want tears ruining your mascara, or anytime you don’t want the hassle of putting on makeup and want to be able to just throw on a little lip gloss and go feeling a little “done up” already.

How long do the lash extensions last?

The look can be maintained indefinitely with refills. When properly applied, an eyelash extension will remain in place until the natural lash on which it rests falls out. This can be as long as two months or more.Natural eyelashes grow in and fall out in cycles (every 3-4 weeks). When a natural lash matures and falls out, a new lash has already been growing and quickly replaces it without us noticing the turnover. This process is constant and at any given moment our many natural lashes are at different stages of maturity. Some are just growing in, while others are ready to shed. People typically shed between 1 and 5 natural lashes each day, depending on their individual growth cycles. On shorter natural lashes, this growing and shedding cycle is virtually unnoticeable.

When eyelashes are extended with extensions, it will be more noticeable when these lashes shed because they are longer and darker than natural lashes. Please keep in mind this is a perfectly normal occurrence, with or without extensions. Our lash stylist will apply extensions primarily to those lashes that are in the middle of their maturation cycle to maximum the amount of time they will last, without jeopardizing the health of ‘baby' lashes. The extension will fall out with the natural lash it is attached to when it reaches the end of its growth cycle. A few extensions may shed within the first week because the attached natural lashes are at the end of their growth cycle. Most will remain in place for approximately two months. With proper care and maintenance, touch-ups are typically only needed once every 3 to 4 weeks to replace the lashes that have shed. Your stylist will add extensions to the newest mature natural lashes to maintain a full, lush appearance.

How long does the procedure take?

Depending on the expertise and experience of the lash stylist and the number of lashes being applied, it generally takes between 90 to 120 minutes to apply a classic full set. Partial sets take between 60 to 75 minutes. Touch-ups or relashes can be done in as little as 45 to 60 minutes.

Can you describe the application process?

You will be comfortably reclined with your eyes closed while the extensions are applied one at a time to your own natural eyelashes. There is no discomfort or pain involved in the procedure. Most clients find it is so relaxing and comfortable that they fall asleep. We recommend coming to the appointment with no eye makeup on and not wear contact lenses, lessening the application time. Our lash stylist can remove an eye makeup and cleanse the lashes of any oil and debris.Next, the natural lashes are primed to protect the natural lashes and ensure a seamless bond with the adhesive. After the extensions are applied, a small fan is used to dry the adhesive enough so that the fumes do not cause irritation once you open your eyes. Over the next hours the adhesive fully cures. This is where much TLC and proper following of the aftercare instructions are important.

Who should not wear eyelash extensions?

Because eyelash extensions are applied to existing natural lashes you must have some natural lashes to receive the procedure. Extensions should not, and in many cases cannot, be applied to clients who have alopecia, are undergoing chemotherapy or those who suffer from Trichotillomania, unless and until the individual has received effective treatment and normal lash growth has resumed.

Anyone showing signs of eye-related infections, or have broken or irritated eye-area tissue will be refused service until cleared by a medical doctor. Clients recovering from surgeries or recent irritating treatments such as lasers or strong skin resurfacing procedures around the eye should first get clearance from a doctor before receiving eyelash extensions.Anyone with a confirmed medical diagnosis of an allergy to acrylates or cyanoacrylate adhesives should not receive eyelash extensions.Inform your lash artist if you have a history of blepharitis, conjunctivitis, eczema, acne, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, rosacea, ocular rosacea or seborrheic dermatitis. Clients prone to these conditions tend to experience irritation from the faster curing adhesives.

How much does it cost for an application?

The major investment in eyelash extensions consists of the initial full set, typically between 70 and 100 lash extensions per eye. This can run anywhere from $250 to $600, depending on how many lashes are applied, the skill level of the lash stylist and in what part of the country you are located. The application of eyelash extensions are an art form, and just as with hair styling and cutting, it can cost a bit more to have your lashes styled by the best. Once the initial set has been completed, touch-ups are nominal by beauty industry standards.

Krissy Capati, our lash stylist, has been certified through Xtreme Lash and has 4 years of experience behind her, yet she keeps her prices as affordable as possible. The first initial classic full lash set is $180. Full set relashes every 3-4 weeks cost $80+ (depending on how well you’ve kept up with the after care and how many lashes are remaining, at least half of the lashes must still be intact for the cost to remain at $80. Otherwise, more time and materials must be used resulting in a slightly higher relash price). The initial partial classic lash set is $100. This partial set includes 35-50 lash extensions per eye. The relash price for a partial set is $50+.Removal is $30 and takes less than 30 minutes.

One note of caution: We hear countless stories of individuals who go to an untrained lash technician because the cost is low.  They receive a substandard set of lashes that is clumpy, painful and often damaging to their lashes.  A proper application of lashes is not painful during or after the procedure.  Eyelash extension application is an exacting process that takes skill and time.  If the cost is very cheap, you should certainly question the training of the technician as well as the quality of the product.  These same individuals often end up seeking out an Xtreme Lashes® eyelash extensions stylist after they try the cheap alternatives. Ultimately, most have realized from experience that the old adage “you get what you pay for” is often true.
